Historic Preservation Commission & Planning Board Seeking Applicants to Serve

The Statesville Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and Statesville Planning Board are seeking interested residents to serve on these important boards.

For the HPC, volunteers who reside within the territorial jurisdiction of Statesville and have expertise and special interest in history, architecture, archeology and related fields are encouraged to submit an application.

The HPC consists of nine members whose mission is to identify, preserve and protect Statesville’s historic resources. The commission also works to educate the public about these historic resources and historic preservation in general.

Members of the HPC are appointed by City Council to serve a three-year term. The HPC meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Planning Board reviews and makes recommendations on planning policies, ordinances and procedures; advises Council on the means for carrying out these plans; considers zoning ordinance text changes, changes in the zoning designation of properties; reviews major development proposals and major subdivisions of property.

Planning Board members are appointed for a three-year term. It meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers of City Hall.
