LR and City of Hickory to host Fourth Annual 5K event

HICKORY, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University and the City of Hickory are proud to present the Fourth Annual LRU 5K, Saturday, April 6, at 8:30 a.m.

The 5K is intended for community members of all ages and features prizes for top-finishers, refreshments, musical entertainment, and offerings from local business vendors.

Participants are welcome to run or walk the course at their own pace. The 5K route will start and finish in the heart of LR’s main campus on Seventh Street NE, leading participants through the streets adjacent to the University. Early registration is open through noon Tuesday, March 26 and includes a T-shirt with the event’s vintage LR logo. Additional T-shirts will be for sale at the event. Event day registration will be held between 7:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Please visit lr.edu/5K to register.

The Fourth Annual LRU 5K is produced by the University City Commission (UCC), a board comprised of representatives from the City of Hickory and LR. The UCC is aimed at strengthening and broadening the relationship between LR and the City of Hickory. The board works to grow LR’s student body presence and interaction in Hickory, while also increasing the young adult population, enhancing the collegiate atmosphere, and promoting school pride throughout the community.
