HICKORY, NC – Lenoir Rhyne University’s Youth Chorus will hold open auditions for the 2018 – 2019 season Saturday, Aug. 18, and Sunday, Aug. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Mauney Music building.

Openings are available in two ensembles including the Minnesingers and Meistersingers. The Minnesingers is a beginning chorus for young singers or those for whom choral singing is a new experience, and it is open to singers in the third grade and above. The Meistersingers is an advanced chorus for those with prior experience and is open to singers in grades seven and above. Auditions are brief and do not require an appointment or any prepared music. There is no fee to audition.

Founded in 1997, the LR Youth Chorus has toured extensively in the United States and abroad. The chorus regularly performs for churches, civic organizations, and in concerts with the LR A Cappella Choir. It has also performed twice with the Western Piedmont Symphony. In June, the group traveled to Washington, D.C., where they sang at the U.S. Capitol Building, National Cathedral, and other venues as part of their annual spring tour.
