Mitchell to Offer Summer Camps

STATESVILLE, NC – Mitchell Community College will offer three camps for rising 8th and 9th graders this summer–Public Safety, Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Camp (TEC), and Culinary.

Mitchell and Career Academy and Technical School (CATS) are partnering to offer the Public Safety Camp for rising 9th grade students. Students will spend 4 ½ days, June 25 – 29, 2018, learning about the many rewarding careers in public safety. Topics will include fire service, rescue, law enforcement, Emergency Medical Service, firehouse cooking and Public Safety professionalism.

Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Camp (TEC) for rising 8th graders on June 25 – 28, 2018. The TEC camp will be a hands-on, interactive learning experience for students. Camp topics include 3D Part Design (rapid prototyping (3D printing), 3D modeling with SolidWorks software, part creation (use of rapid prototype machine)) and Electronic Engineering Basics (resistors, LED’s, circuit boards, microprocessor programming).

Mitchell and CATS are partnering to offer Culinary Camp to rising 8th graders on July 16 – 19, 2018. The theme of this hands-on, interactive learning experience for students will be baking. Topics include Biscuits and Quick breads, Yeast Dough Products (such as rolls, pretzels, pizza crusts, etc.), and Cakes.

Registration deadline for all camps is June 1, 2018. Cost is $50/camp which includes various activities/supplies (differs per camp) and is non-refundable. For additional information and registration, please visit mitchellcc.edu/camps.
