Marvel’s Black Panther has observed a tremendous amount of success with its opening weekend generating record breaking box office numbers. The film has also found itself at the forefront of being the catalyst for hundreds of private screening events that were hosted by nonprofit organizations. These private screenings not only served as fundraisers but as opportunities for members of the community to come together and fellowship for a great cause. On Saturday February 17th, committee chair Atiba Wright successfully coordinated a private screening that was hosted by the Tau Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omega members from across the triad, including the Phi Chi Chapter out of Concord, made the journey to support this enormous family event. With two screens sold out within an hour, supporters expressed an enormous amount of gratitude for the opportunity to share the movie experience with one another and they look forward to even more events in the future. Mentee’s from Phi Chi’s mentoring program also had the privilege of supporting this year’s event and echoed the same positive sentiments as the rest of the attendees.
