CONCORD, NC – Saturday, December 17, 2022, Grace Lutheran Church celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their pastor, Rev. Donald E. Anthony serving as their shepherd leader. Rev. Christopher Stout served as guest speaker.

Rev. Anthony said, “I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace give me through the working of this power,” Ephesians 3:7.

He led and participated in numerous church and civic organizations in High School, college and at Concordia Seminary. Today, he continuously demonstrates care and concerns for caused in the larger church and the community. Upon settling into Grace, he immediately became involved in the community. He represented God, Grace, and the community in many ways, and continues to do so. Not all but, some of his past and recent involvements are:

- Civically engaged, Anthony has served in the following associations: Third, Second and First Vice-President of Southeastern District, CVAN Men for Change, Volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

- Logan Optimist Club, Member/Secretary, Logan Minister Association, Past President, Treasurer

- Logan Community Association, Past President, current board member

- City of Concord Planning & Zoning Member, Interdenominational Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Treasurer

- Board for Black Ministry Services, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Chairperson, United Way of Central Carolina, Cabarrus County Past Board Chair, United Way of Central Carolina Past Community Investment Chair, United Way of Central Carolina, Board Member, Speaker for A.L. Brown, Baccalaureate Service, William T. Murphy Award, Recipient, Recipient of the Fred T. Hedt Award

- City of Concord Planning and Zoning Board, Lifetime Member of the NAACP, and Member of the Academic Learning Center Board of Directors.

- In addition, he is, Founding Board member of the Cabarrus Community Health Center

- Past President of the Black Clergy Caucus of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

- Additional offices include, but are not limited to, Historic Cabarrus Association, Vice President

- Historic Cabarrus Association, President, Member of the Cabarrus Arts Council, Member of the Board of Directors, Hospice of Cabarrus County, Member and Asst. Secretary of the Black Political Caucus of Cabarrus County, Member of Racial Equity Cabarrus, Recipient of the Old North State Governor’s Award, Recipient of the NAACP president’s award and, Member of the Concord/Cabarrus County Juneteenth Committee.

A North Carolina native, Rev. Anthony is the oldest of three children of Mrs. Nancy B. Anthony and the late C. Donald Anthony of Kannapolis. He has two sisters, Angela Anthony, and Bridgette Reese.

He and wife, Alesia Hall Anthony are the proud parents of one daughter, Alyson LeSandra.
