The Urban League of Central Carolinas announces three champions to be honored at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Gala May 5th as they celebrate the events 40th birthday.

One of the premiere fundraising events in the Charlotte region, this annual event honors community champions who have made a commitment to the development of diversity inclusion and philanthropy. More importantly, their efforts have made a positive impact and helped create new opportunities for underserved and underemployed individuals.

Ophelia Eugenia Garmon-Brown, MD, Family practice physician, Novant Health

The Urban League of Central Carolinas is celebrating 40 years of empowering communities and changing lives through dynamic workforce development, educational and financial empowerment programs. These programs have broken cycles of unemployment and underemployment for tens of thousands of local residents in need.
