Dr. Melvin Isadore Douglass, President of Barber Scotia College, was presented the Mayor's Key to the City of Columbia, South Carolina by Edward H. McDowell, Jr., Mayor Pro-Tem.

The presentation took place Sunday, March 15, 2020 at First Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia prior to Dr. Douglass delivering the Men’s Day message. After receiving the award, Dr. Douglass delivered the Men's Day Sermon using the topic, “Fisherman of Men.”

While there, Dr. Douglass presented Mrs. Rubie Nixon-Schumpert with a certificate recognizing her as the oldest living Barber Scotia alumnae. Born in 1917, she graduated in 1936 from “Scotia,” as the college is affectionately referred to with a B.S. degree in Mathematics, and celebrates her 102 years proudly.
