CONCORD, NC - The Rev. Melvin J. Holsten Scholarship Banquet was held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Logan Multi-Purpose Center in Concord, North Carolina with Attorney Juanita Boger-Allen, Concord practicing attorney serving as guest speaker.

The scholarship committee honored 7 high school graduates with engraved Bibles, and acknowledged 11 student applicants as well.

Established by Grace Lutheran Church, the scholarship’s goal was and remains a vehicle to provide an incentive and motivational tool to encourage young people to pursue a higher education and to become strong community leaders. The Rev. M.J. Holsten Scholarship has been in existence for more than 20 years, and many of its recipients have earned Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees. Rev. Holsten believed in the potential of all young people.
