Hickory NAACP Schedules Voter Registration Trainings; Reminds Local Citizens of Up-Coming Elections

Hickory, NC - The Hickory NAACP Branch hosted its first learning session for citizens to provide registration training to area voters on Tuesday at Ridgeview Library, and will host its’ next session on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 6-7pm at Patrick Beaver Library in Hickory.

Anyone interested in helping citizens to register to vote should attend. For further information, please call 828-327-0998.

NAACP officers remind area citizens that while the 2020 Presidential Election is a year away, Catawba County voters should be aware that a Hickory Primary and several local Municipal and School Board Elections are coming up in the next 7 weeks.

Residents in Hickory Wards 1, 2 and 3 can pick nominees for City Council in a Primary. One-Stop (Early Voting) for the Primary which runs from September 18 to October 4.

If your tradition is voting on Election Day, please remember to cast your vote for the Primary on October 8. Absentee-by-Mail for the Hickory Primary began September 6 and continues through October 8.

Branch officers also remind voters in the cities and towns of Hickory, Newton, Conover, Catawba, Claremont, Maiden, Long View and Brookford that they will elect council members on November 5. Newton, Catawba and Maiden will also elect mayors. One-Stop (Early Voting) for this election will run from October 16 to November 1.
