The Carolina Panthers worked together as a team with a different ball and field for the Fourth Annual Kickin it With Cam, kickball tournament, held, Friday, June 1, at Memorial Stadium. Several celebrity players joined Panthers’ Quarterback Cam Newton for the daylong family event that brought out the retired and the rivals like Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons and Terrell Owens, (T.O.), retired 2018 NFL Hall of Fame class member.

“I just came to town to support Newton,” said Jones.

Panther team members included Dwight Howard, Josh Norman, Greg Olsen, Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis and Julius Peppers. Fans brought shoes, hats, sports trading cards, shirts and posters that celebrities happily autographed.

Kickin It with Cam, a segment of the Cam Newton Foundation (CNF) committed to enhancing the lives of young people by addressing their socioeconomic, educational, physical and emotional needs, according to its website. The Foundation’s charities include, MAKE-A-WISH, Special Olympics Shopping Spree and the newest, UN1TED AS 1. Since 2012, when the CNF started, it distributed over three million dollars to charities and close to 10,000 youth impacted by efforts.

“It’s about giving something that’s outside the box. I’m a kid at heart and kickball brings the kid out of everybody,” said Newton.

Although not at the club, Newton, Howard, volunteers and fans, continuously ‘kicked it’, danced and laughed throughout the tournament and at the after-party. Celebrity appearances included recording artist, Montell Jordan, of the appropriate hit song, This Is How We Do IT.
