CONCORD, NC - The Daniel Pharr Community Building in Caldwell Park has reopened and has been upgraded.

The city of Concord officials and family members of Mr. Daniels Pharr gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the upgrades and reopening of the Daniel Pharr Community Building in Caldwell Park.

Excited about the reopening of the community building, Mr. Pharr’s daughters, Mrs. Vernie King and Mrs. Elnora Barrier, grandchildren Robert Barrier Jr., Teresa Hillie, Wilma Means, Patricia Pharr and James Pharr Jr. participated in the ceremony. Pharr’s son, Jesse Pharr was unable to attend.

Caldwell Park is located on the former farm of Mr. Pharr who was a strong supporter of his church, education and community. He donated the property to the city of Concord in hopes that a school would be built in the community. The park is located at 362 Georgia St. SW in Concord.

In addition to the Pharr Building the 24 acre park has basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, 5 picnic shelters, walking trails, amphitheater and baseball fields. The park has hosted festivals, church services, family reunions, weddings and numerous other events.

Reservations for the building can be made though Concord Park and Recreation Center.
