CHARLOTTE, NC – Rev. Dr. Otto D. Harris, III, the pastor of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church was recently presented the Society of John Wesley Award; the highest award presented by the United Methodist Men Foundation.

An Ordained Elder in full connection to the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, Dr. Harris is the organizer and director of Pass the Peace Feasts which convenes Black youth in a social gathering with police officers and community leaders to bond and form healthy relationships. In addition, he is actively involved in projects that spiritually nurture and provide sustenance to the homeless and hungry in the community as well as the “Soup Kitchen Ministry” at St. Mark’s.

In the Western North Carolina Conference, Dr. Harris is known for his dedicated service on the Conference Worship Committee, serving as chairperson of the Metro District Committee on Ordained Ministry, as well as; being an adjunct faculty member at Hood Theological Seminary, board member of Brotherhood/Sisterhood of Western North Carolina, member of Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR), and as a member of the Western North Carolina Justice and Reconciliation Team.
