Jerrell to Announce for Char-Meck Board of County Commissioners

CHARLOTTE, NC – Today, Mark Jerrell, is announcing his intent to file for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioner’s open seat in District 4.
After successfully managing campaigns for Former Senator Malcolm Graham, Judge Gary Henderson, Councilman At-Large – James “Smuggie” Mitchell, Commissioner Trevor Fuller, and Councilman Justin Harlow, Jerrell has realized it is his time to serve.
He, while not born in Charlotte, Mark Jerrell is a “Charlottean.” He has put more hours in on-ground-work for the betterment of the entire city than many born in the city. A long-time resident of District 4
Being raised by a single mom who instilled in him the values of faith, family and service, led Jerrell to become a community leader and advocate. He is is committed to building bridges and breaking down barriers both political and social, and works for the most vulnerable citizens within the county as well. The host of Hipolitix, a weekly podcast, he provides commentary on political and social issues as well as local community issues.
Mark Jerrell has been a vocal proponent supporting issues around seniors and single parents, and works to ensure they not only know about, but get the services they need and are entitled to.
Over his career, Jerrell has worked for several fortune 500 companies as operations manager, but none of that matches the work and results he gets by being an entrepreneur in partnership with his sister in a Speech Therapy company with three locations that serve 21 counties throughout North Carolina. The businesses primary focus is to improve the lives of children and their families.
Relocating from Staten Island, New York to Fort Mill, South Carolina with his mother in 1983, Jerrell graduated from Heritage Academy, received his undergraduate degree in political science from Winthrop University, and his M.B.A. from American Intercontinental University. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Army Reserve and the North Carolina Army National Guard.
Civically engaged, Jerrell serves on the Executive Committee of the Black Political Caucus, has served as the chair of the Get Out the Vote (GOTV) and legislative committees, was instrumental in the development of a scorecard to ensure accountability among local elected officials, and most recently served as the co-chair of the Economic Development Committee, and he continues to champion the cause of ensuring locally owned small businesses having access to information and resources to grown and become competitive in a global marketplace.
Jerrell and wife, Whitney, who he confesses has been the primary source of inspiration and motivation behind his community service, have two adorable daughters, who he affectionately calls “Pride” and “Joy,” better known as, Sarai Devyn Jerrell (7) and Malani Love Jerrell (3).
The family worships at Weeping Willow A.M.E. Zion Church, where the pastor is Rev. Henrico White, and Mark is actively engaged serving on the Board of Trustee’s and others tasks when asked.
As an entrepreneur, he has time to serve, but most importantly, as a family man, he has the support of his family.
